Review: I love this series and have read most of the books in it - I think I missed a few early on - I have gone back and read past books, just not all of them. But I have to say that I do love the characters and their interactions in this book. Since the TV show came out the books now say 'Rizzoli & Isles' and yes in the past few books these characters have come central to this series - I never thought these two would be friends since they are both so different - but it seems to be working -
On the other hand I tried watching the 1st season of the TV series and could not take the characters serious - they are nothing like the characters in the book series - Rizzoli is not the beauty in the books she is on TV and Isles is much to personable on TV then in the books - yes in the books the characters have developed a friendship of sorts, but it is not like the TV show at all - it is more of an acquaintance-work friend in the books- where Rizzoli is the one pushing to have Isles let her in a bit.
Back to this book review - I like this authors writing and like I said I love the characters - this book started out in Africa and built from there - I did enjoy reading this book, but it did not keep me up late at night like a few of her other books have. I would give it 4 stars for that reason. The African story line was interesting and mixed with the Boston chapters to keep you turning the pages.
It is a great story that weaves its way around the world and ends up right back n Boston again. The new characters you meet and few old ones again are well written and the dialogue is authentic. Rizzoli's mother and family are going through a tough stop that has been threaded throughout the last few books and it this book you don't see much change it that area - BTW: I guessed the end, but there was a twist I missed - it was a bit of a slippery twist that was tough for the reader to see coming. The ending was good and the whole book kept my attention - I look forward to the next book in this series and will be reading that as soon as I can.
The book Ice Cold in this series is a definite 5 star read for me -
