Book Review: Little Girls Sleeping (Detective Katie Scott Book 1) by Jennifer Chase

Little Girls Sleeping (Detective Katie Scott, #1)
Title: Little Girls Sleeping (Detective Katie Scott Book 1)

Author: Jennifer Chase

Stars: 3 1\2

The author Jennifer Chase create a police procedural story readers are able to enjoy from beginning to the end.  The story is told from Kaite Point of View. The story will be well paced and than something happens not sure how to explain it other than a scene must have been written and put in later one because it suddenly comes to a stop.  Once again the story starts to have a great pace and again it has another odd stop.
While it is a good read it isn't perfect but worth a summer read to get away from the crazy of kids and life.

Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher Brookouture Advance Copy of Jennifer Chase LIttle Girls Sleeping.

An eight-year-old girl, Chelsea Compton, is missing in Pine Valley, California and for Detective Katie Scott it’s a cruel reminder of the friend who disappeared from summer camp twenty years ago. Unable to shake the memories, Katie vows she won’t rest until she discovers what happened to Chelsea.

But as Katie starts to investigate, the case reveals itself to be much bigger and more shocking than she feared. Hidden deep in the forest she unearths a makeshift cemetery: a row of graves, each with a brightly coloured teddy bear.

Katie links the graves to a stack of missing-persons cases involving young girls—finding a pattern no one else has managed to see. Someone in Pine Valley has been taking the town’s daughters for years, and Katie is the only one who can stop them.

And then another little girl goes missing, snatched from the park near her home.

Katie’s still haunted by the friend she failed to protect, and she’ll do anything to stop the killer striking again—but can she find the little girl before it’s too late?

Book Review: Ghost (Linear Tactical #5) by Janie Crouch

Ghost (Linear Tactical #5)
Title: Ghost (Linear Tactical #5)

Author: Janie Crouch

Stars: 4

Having read the other books in the Linear Tactical series though Kindle Unlimited I was up to date on the characters and different story lines.  Readers new to this series should go back to the first two books to understand who Ghost is and why he is different.
Ghost is the best of the series with action, a really fast pace story that will have readers hooked until the last page wondering who is controlling Grace and the other "Dead Men".
The story has the ability to have readers really connect with Grace and her past, while giving romance readers the steamy stories they love.
Janie Crouch gives readers action pack gun battles, romance and alpha men and awkward women who readers will love.
Thank you to the Author Janie Crouch for the advance copy of Ghost.
I will say this is the best all around story of the series so far.

Grace Brandt, government codename Wraith, knows her past can’t be forgiven. She has stayed “dead” for as long as she could, but now the forces she’s been fighting, the secrets slowly suffocating her, won’t stay hidden any longer.

And the man she helped break—the man she's always loved—is the only one who can stop the danger threatening them all.

When it comes to keeping the people he loves safe, including the one who thinks she’s not worthy of it, there is no danger—past, present or future—Dorian won’t battle.

Book Review: Your Life Is Mine by Nathan Ripley

Your Life Is Mine
Title: Your Life Is Mine

Author: Nathan Ripley

You Life Is Mine is your average typical psychological thriller. The story isn't wow but it isn't bad either.  The story just exist with like able characters and a average story line that readers who enjoy this type of thriller will be able to see the predictability of the the story.  The characters do not stand out as memorable.  The story moves slowly giving readers a chance to decided to stop readers or finish the book in hopes of twist they do not see coming. Unfortunately the story doesn't give readers the twist they are hoping for leaving the bored.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher Atria Books for the advance copy of Nathan Ripley Your Life Is Mine

Book Review: A Perfect Lie by L.R. Jones

A Perfect Lie
Title: A Perfect Lie

Author: Lisa Renee Jones

L. R. Jones takes what is happening right now in the world brings a twist in a way readers will be able to sink their teeth into.
A perfect Lie is a story that is more puzzle than mystery.  Readers will be pieces each part together as the characters move though their lives. The story comes across as a journal that readers will not be able to figure out until the author is ready to unveil it.
This is the perfect book for readers who love mystery puzzle with a political twist.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher Julie Patra Publishing for the advance copy of L.R. Jones A Perfect Lie

They say that you are not a product of the environment that you’ve grown up in, that you create your own story, tell it your way. That you get to pick your own future. They lied. If you’re honest with yourself, you believed that lie, too, like I used to, because I wanted to, and even needed to believe that I had some semblance of control over my own self. The truth is that control is part of the lie. The ability to become a person of our own making is the perfect lie. I concede that it might appear that some people control their destiny, but I assure you, if you gave me fifteen minutes, I could pull apart that façade. We are born into a destiny that we never have the chance to escape. That’s why I must tell my story. For those of you out there like me who were told that you have choices, when you never had one single choice that was your own. For those of you out there who were, who are, judged for decisions you’ve made that were directed by your destiny, not by the façade of choices. The irony of the story within this story is how one person’s predisposed destiny can impact, influence, and even change the lives of those around him or her. How one destiny ties to another destiny.

I am Hailey Anne Monroe. I’m twenty-eight years old. An artist, who found her muse on the canvas because I wasn’t allowed to have friends or even keep a journal. And yes, if you haven’t guessed by now, I’m that Hailey Anne Monroe, daughter to Thomas Frank Monroe, the man who was a half-percentage point from becoming President of the United States. If you were able to ask him, he’d probably tell you that I was the half point. But you can’t ask him, and he can’t tell you. He’s dead. They’re all dead and now I can speak.

Book Review: Turning Secrets (Stonechild and Rouleau Mystery #6) by Brenda Chapman

Turning Secrets (Stonechild and Rouleau Mystery, #6)
Title: Turning Secrets (Stonechild and Rouleau Mystery #6)

Author: Brenda Chapman

Stars: 4

Although this is book 6 in a series it is the first one I have read. I found the storyline to be solid and easy to follow. A mystery which involves good old fashioned policing and grinding techniques. It involves underage prostitution and trafficking of young women. I think it will keep the readers interested until the final chapter.

I have rated this book 4 stars.

I received an ARC from Netgalley for my unbiased review.
Thank you Frank for the Review.

Book Review: Gone in the Night (Alex Devlin) by Mary-Jane Riley

Title: Gone in the Night (Alex Devlin)

Author: Mary-Jane Riley

Stars: 4

This is the first time I have read a book by Mary-Jane Riley. The author uses different view points from different characters in the story.  Readers will not be trusting any of the characters even Ale as the story moves forward. Page after page will have readers questioning who is who.  The author uses twist and turns to confusing readers. Readers will end the story having it all tied up in a nice little bow.

About The Author:
Mary-Jane Riley
Mary-Jane wrote her first story on her newly acquired blue Petite typewriter. She was eight. It was about a gang of children who had adventures on mysterious islands, but she soon realised Enid Blyton had cornered that particular market. So she wrote about the Wild West instead. When she grew up she had to earn a living, and became a BBC radio talk show presenter and journalist. She has covered many life-affirming stories, but also some of the darkest events of the past two decades.

Then, in true journalistic style, she decided not to let the facts get in the way of a good story and got creative. She wrote for women’s magazines and small presses. She formed WriteOutLoud with two writer friends to help charities get their message across using their life stories. Now she is writing psychological suspense, drawing on her experiences in journalism. She has three grown-up children and lives in Suffolk with a golden retriever and her television journalist husband.
