Book Review: Banshee Cry and Banshee Song by Jen Katemi

Title: Banshee Cry and Banshee Song

Author: Jen Katemi

Stars: 1

Review:

The Banshee cry and Banshee song leave very little to the imagination when it comes to romance.  The story starts off with talking about sex and than bam the characters are in bed.  The mystery of the story is thrown away for sex scenes.  The story has potential for a really good short story but the author takes the easy way out writing over the top sex scenes.

The stories are the reason I have avoid paranormal romance stories.  All sex and very little story or character development.

Book Review: City of Villains (City of Villains #1) by Estelle Laure

Title: City of Villains (City of Villains #1)

Author: Estelle Laure

Stars: 4

Review:

This story is written for teens and adults might not find a little silly.  The concept of the story is is fun and focused on what Disney does best.  The world the author created could have been drawn out a bit more.  The reading  age says teen but I find it is closer to 9-13 year old kids.  Teens might find it a bit silly.

Pree Teen  Review:

I loved this book it is everything I wanted to know about the Villains in the Disney world.  The story is hard to put down and I can't wait to read book 2.  I loved this book and everyone should read it.  I finished the book over the weekend.  Awesome

The story overall is written to the young preteen age group so it is fast pace and very easy to read story.

Review:

A late 1800's (1874) love story that finds an intelligent American bluestocking in London, with her family, for a season. Coming from new money, and extremely wealthy, she is aghast to find out her parents are seriously considering forcing her younger sister into marriage with a penniless Duke. This tragedy is apparently being done to achieve an elevated social status. She is determined to thwart this cruel miscarriage and ensure her sister can marry the man she loves. What will happen when her distain for this fortune hunter begins to wane?

I have rated this book 4 stars and thought it was well presented.

I received an ARC from Netgalley for my unbiased review. The above is based on my reading of the book.

Synopsis:

American heiress August Crenshaw has aspirations. But unlike her peers, it isn't some stuffy British Lord she wants wrapped around her finger—it's Crenshaw Iron Works, the family business. When it's clear that August's outrageously progressive ways render her unsuitible for a respectable match, her parents offer up her younger sister to the highest entitled bidder instead. This simply will not do. August refuses to leave her sister to the mercy of a loveless marriage.

Evan Sterling, the Duke of Rothschild, has no intention of walking away from the marriage. He's recently inherited the title only to find his coffers empty, and with countless lives depending on him, he can't walk away from the fortune a Crenshaw heiress would bring him. But after meeting her fiery sister, he realizes Violet isn't the heiress he wants. He wants August, and he always gets what he wants.

But August won't go peacefully to her fate. She decides to show Rothschild that she's no typical London wallflower. Little does she realize that every stunt she pulls to make him call off the wedding only makes him like her even more.

Book Review: Operation K-9 Brothers (Operation K-9 Brothers #1) by Sandra Owens

Title: Operation K-9 Brothers (Operation K-9 Brothers #1)

Author: Sandra Owens

Stars: 4

Review:

This is the beginning of what might be a interesting romantic suspense's series.   Sandra Owens uses more of the romance to tell the story and less the suspense but even with that it is a fast pace series that readers of romantic suspense novels will enjoy.

The characters are fun and readers will connect with them quickly. The author takes a topic that some might find as difficult to discuses and writes it with respect to the character development.  The author does introduce you to characters that will be coming up in the series at least I hope.  Otherwise the author has a few too many plot holes.

This is a summer read by the pool.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy of Sandra Owens Operation K-9 Brothers.

Navy SEAL Jack Daniels (save the jokes, he’s heard them all) and his trusty Belgian Malinois sidekick, Dakota, are back home in Asheville, North Carolina, after a bomb left them scarred. A chance run-in with a navy SEAL turned canine companion trainer might solve the dog problem. The fact Jack is easy on the eyes doesn’t hurt, either.

Title: The Mystery Shopper & The Hot Tub: Book One Of The De'ath Family Antics

Author: Helen E. Field

Stars:  3 1\2

Review:

The mystery Shopper is trying to hard to be a over the top humors story that at times falls flat with the chauvinism that is constantly presented to readers over and over again. The author gives readers a introduction that will help readers understand the reason as to why the characters do what they do.

The story is very much British humor that not many American readers will enjoy.  Yet the author is able to create laugh out loud moments, a cast of characters that are a mix and match to the world around people as well as over the top down right silly moments.

Book Review: Overland by Ramcy Diek

Title: Overland

Author: Ramcy Diek

Stars: 5

Review:

Overland starts off really slow and at times I had to push myself to read the story.  Once the story start to take off I couldn't put the book down. The author uses the characters as in children that will pull at readers heart strings.  The author is able to bring compassion out in characters that readers would normally never expect to.

The story could trigger readers that have had sexual Violance and child abuse.  The author doesn't sugar coat her story and how things happened.  It is dark and the romance doesn't bring the light needed to leave some readers feels happy.

In the end Ramcy Diek created a story that in a way is choose your own adventure but remember there is consequences for those choices.

Insanity for two weeks

Well as many of you know life as a mother with four kids online school as been difficult to say the least.

As the New Year started off I had everything set to have one child began in person and the other 3 online.  As the Covid numbers have increased to the point Arizona has the highest number in the world.  That's right not just the United States but the WORLD!

With increase my one in person kiddos is now home for the next two weeks.  I am back to running around checking on 4 kids and trying to figure keep them in class instead of zoning out or playing on games!

This is not a easy task.  I spent most of break trying to keep them busy and off screens.  Which at times failed BIG TIME!!  Every year we have always been good about keeping the school schedule even when we are not in class.  Not this time.  Early morning disappeared as I dealt with a MCTD issues and a high dose of medications.

The kids left the house with me when we needed items like Medications and shopping I couldn't do online.  We wore masks stood 6 feet part even with family during Christmas.

We all now have cute mask I clean regularly.  We are online for another semester and the poor dog I think is as tried as I am of having kids around.

I have no idea when I will be getting the vaccine for COVID even though I am high risk due to medication Arizona isn't moving quickly and there are over 2million people that are consider high risk in the state of Arizona.

Even with all the crazy my amazing husband has been home for the first week of the new year saving my life.
