Book Review: Bait (The Dangerous Distractions #2) by Samantha Keith

Bait (The Dangerous Distractions, #2)
Title: Bait (The Dangerous Distractions #2)

Author: Samantha Keith

Stars: 3 1/2 Stars out of 5

Review:
Samantha Keith creates a story that has potential but ends up needing more help than readers might be able to stand.
Questions
how man times can one woman get hit over the head, drunk, almost killed before someone steps in to help?
When reading this book please tell me I was not the only yelling at the Riley telling her to stop?
Why is Riley so hung up on a guy that she refuses his help over and over again.
Riley is suppose to me smart but she never once uses her head each for getting hit.  She refuses help, tries to save her friend by getting drunk with guys who will rape her.  On top of that the one person that scream crazed killer is the one person she refuses to knowledge.
It would be almost laughable if the author didn't put so much heart and soul into the story.
This is the story I would tell Romantic Suspense avoid this style of story. While it has promise it falls on every single romantic suspense cliche.  Its a fast summer read with you typical cast of characters and ends just as you imagine it would.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher Lyrical Liaison for the advance copy of Samantha Keith Bait
With a little more focus and mystery this story could have been a 4 out of 5 instead it was predictable and lacked focus.

Synopsis:
Former military and ex-FBI agent Ethan Worth is searching for a new way to serve and protect. On a break in Beaufort, North Carolina, he just may have found it. It starts with saving a tipsy damsel in distress from a shady troublemaker. But it ends with the surprisingly sober beauty outraged by his rescue. That’s all Ethan needs for his expert instincts to kick into high gear . . .

Riley Jones is back in Beaufort for one reason only: to find her missing best friend, Hanna. If that means using herself as bait for the kind of guy who’d prey on a vulnerable young woman, so be it. She doesn’t need a rugged knight in shining armor like Ethan distracting her, and she doesn’t want his help. But it turns out she needs it. And together, as the heat between them rises, so does the danger. Until both their lives are on the line.

About The Author:

Samantha Keith resides in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. In case you’ve never been there, it’s one of the coldest cities in North America about eight months out of the year. She is a wife to a very busy, multiple careered husband. Her thirteen-month old daughter, who they’ve nicknamed Sleepless Skylar, stays true to her nickname. Skylar has a beloved friend, Teddy, the family multi-poo, who does a really good job of functioning on little sleep and walking around with bits of cheese in his hair. He doesn’t mind.

Samantha writes steamy, fast-paced, romantic suspense novels in the rare moments she has uninterrupted—even interrupted, she manages to apply words to paper. Aside from her love of writing, she and her husband run a couple of e-commerce businesses. You know, to make life simple. Her life is busy, scattered, and sickeningly happy. She wears bags under her eyes better than mascara, but wouldn’t have it any other way.

Her other interests include: Food, cooking, baking, creating recipes and eating. When she’s not eating, she enjoys working out, yoga, and practices an extremely natural and healthy lifestyle, complete with her weekly acupuncture sessions that she couldn’t live without. She does a good job of keeping her you-need-to-try-acupuncture lectures to a minimum.
