Book Review: Run and Hide(Tactical Solutions International 2) by Maggie Clare

Run and Hide
Title: Run and Hide (Tactical Solutions International 2)

Author: Maggie Clare

Stars: 4

Review:
Romantic Suspense is my middle name and I am not ashamed to admit it.
I have found that I really enjoy a well written RS.  Maggie Clare is able to bring likable characters that reader will root for as they try to stop the crazy that is surrounding them.  Lucia wants answers and refuses to stay safe but instead goes out to find justice for her brother. Mike is trying to keep a promise while trying to find answers.  Together they make a great team readers will be able to fight along side.

The story is well paced and the end gives readers everything they wanted from the first few pages in the book. The story is the perfect blend of romance action and suspense.  It is considered to be a stand alone book but it is book 2 in the series.

Book Review: Trap 'N Trace by Tee O'Fallon

Trap 'N Trace
Title: Trap 'N Trace

Author: Tee O'Fallon

Stars: 4

Review:
What keeps this reader from giving this story a 5 stars is that the author falls into the bodyguard romance that keeps it from really becoming the story I think it has the ability to be.
The characters are likable and the story flows well.  The Romance is blush and might need a fan to cool yourself off at moments.
The author has found formula to her story telling and while the books and characters are just different enough after a while the different books blend together.
Thank you to Netgalley for the advance copy of Tee O'Fallon  Trap 'N Trace

Book Review: Queen's Peril (Star Wars Disney Canon Novel) by E.K. Johnston

Queen's Peril (Star Wars)
Title:  Queen's Peril (Star Wars Disney Canon Novel)

Author: E.K. Johnston

Stars: 5 stars for Tweens and 3 1\2 Adult

Review:
As a star ways fan I wouldn't want to be asked to write a star wars novel because of how high passions fly when it comes to the series.
This book is the perfect read for a tween.  It has a wonderful blend of themes for tween to enjoy without all the swearing that has been found in other tween novels.
The story has more information about Padme that movie fan might be excited to read while others will not.  The last quarter of the book runs next to the Phantom Menace which kids loved but adults disliked.  You could say this is a expanse of the story movie giving reader insight into the queens life before.
As an adult the story read more like a girl who is trying to prove how strong and smart she is but for tweens they will be able to connect with the story line better.

My daughter gave the story a 5 and I give it a 3 1\2 because the story could have been handled a little better without making the queen feel forced into being a look at how strong I am girl!
Thank you to Netgalley for a chance to Review E.K. Johnston Queens Peril.

Synopsis:
When fourteen-year-old Padmé Naberrie wins the election for Queen of Naboo, she adopts the name Amidala and leaves her family to the rule from the royal palace. To keep her safe and secure, she’ll need a group of skilled handmaidens who can be her assistants, confidantes, defenders, and decoys. Each girl is selected for her particular talents, but it will be up to Padmé to unite them as a group. When Naboo is invaded by forces of the Trade Federation, Queen Amidala and her handmaidens will face the greatest test—of themselves, and of each other.

About The Author:
E.K. Johnston had several jobs and one vocation before she became a published writer. If she’s learned anything, it’s that things turn out weird sometimes, and there’s not a lot you can do about it. Well, that and how to muscle through awkward fanfic because it’s about a pairing she likes.

Girl Long Gone
Title: Girl Long Gone

Author:  Danielle M. Haas

Review:
The only reason this story isn't a 5 star is because there are moments where it feels the author lost track or forgot something which had things not connecting more making since.  When the story does connect it has the right amount of fear, excitement and nail biting moments to have readers over looking the simplest mistakes.
Girl Long Gone is a decent  of romance and suspense. Readers can enjoy on a long summer day.

About The Author:
Danielle grew up with a love of reading, partly due to her namesake—Danielle Steele. It seemed as though she was born to write out the same love stories she devoured while growing up.
She attended Bowling Green State University with a dream of studying creative writing, but the thought of sharing her work in front of a group of strangers was enough to make her change her major to Political Science.
After college she moved across the state of Ohio with her soon-to-be husband. Once they married and had babies, she decided to stay home and raise her children. Some days her sanity slipped further across the line to crazy town so she decided to brush off her rusty writing chops and see what happened.
Danielle now spends her days running kids around, playing with her beloved dog, and typing as fast as she can to get the stories in her head written down. She loves to write contemporary romance with relatable characters that make her readers’ hearts happy, as well as fast-paced romantic suspense that leaves them on the edge of their seats. Her story ideas are as varied and unpredictable as her everyday life.

Title: Hashimoto's Diet for the Newly Diagnosed: A 21-Day Elimination Diet Meal Plan and Cookbook

Author: Daphne Olivier LDN RD CDCES IFNCP

Stars: 5

Review:
I am not diagnosed with Hashimoto's but others I know are and I wanted to see how this diet differs from the AP and others that I have read about.

The author knows what she is talking about with the information as well as the wording she is able to comes across as knowledgeable and person readers will be able to connect with.

It is hard to know when to eliminate certain things from your diet and by cutting things off cold turkey it will cause a rebound effect as well as cravings.

The author gives readers a step by step process on who to eliminate certain food and why you might want to take them out of your diet.

The author does get a little preachy which depends on how you read and her voice inflections.

Book Review: Honor Avenged (HORNET #6) by Tonya Burrows

Honor Avenged (HORNET, #6)
Title: Honor Avenged (HORNET #6)

Author: Tonya Burrows

Stars: 3 1\2

Review:
This was present as a stand alone in a series but I will have to say I think I would have connected better with the characters if I had read the previous books.
The book doesn't stand out in a world of Military Romance books in fact it fades into the masses and doesn't inspire readers to search out the others in the series.  While the author tries hard to make readers connect with the characters if feel forced with lots of internal dialog that can slow down books.
I will give the author credit for tacking some difficult subject matter but at the same times fades into the background as well.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of Tonya Burrows Honor Avenged

Author:  Jody Gehrman

Stars: 3

Review:
June Moody what do you expect with a name like that?  Just what you expect a moody characters who doesn't that doesn't give readers what they expect or hope for.
The story is interesting enough to keep readers wondering what will happen next and other characters that are dynamic enough to keep the story flowing.
While the mystery is intriguing the June Moody is boring and lacks the emotions that will draw readers in.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy of Jody Gehrman The Girls Weekend.

Synopsis:
June Moody, a thirty-something English professor, just wants to get away from her recent breakup and reunite with girlfriends over summer break. Her old friend and longtime nemesis, Sadie MacTavish, a mega-successful author, invites June and her college friends to a baby shower at her sprawling estate in the San Juan Islands. June is less than thrilled to spend time with Sadie--and her husband, June's former crush--but agrees to go.

The party gets off to a shaky start when old grudges resurface, but when they wake the next morning, they find something worse: Sadie is missing, the house is in shambles, and bloodstains mar the staircase. None of them has any memory of the night before; they wonder if they were drugged. Everyone's a suspect. Since June had a secret rendezvous with Sadie's husband, she has plenty of reason to suspect herself. Apparently, so do the cops.

Title: Witness to Death

Author:  Heather Graham

Stars: 3 1\2

Review:
Heather Graham as always been a author I could go to when I need a mix of mystery, romance and book that I can't put down.
This book I put down a lot.  It was over sappy compared to the author other books I have read. It lacks the action and mystery that I have enjoyed from the author in the past.  Readers might struggling to be able to connect with the different characters that is the key to Heather Graham books she is able to get readers to connect with the different characters that will have readers needing more.
This time it felt disconnected, lack a flow and focus in the story.
I believe this book a is older one of her books but I am not sure.

Book Review: I Don’t Date Superheroes by S.D. Rogue

Review:
I will way 90% of this book I enjoyed but the ending ruined the book.  I had to reread the ending at least 5 times because I kept thinking I was missing a page.  Yet I didn't miss anything it went from chasing to a sunset that had me very confused.
The story is face paced and a quick beach read but lacks more depth, background and almost a understanding of why they are superheros. While it focus on certain characters readers are introduced to a cast of characters that needed a lot more background that would help readers enjoy and connect to the series wanting more. What readers go was a bit of a fun mess.
Yes I would say this story ends with a cliff hanger.

Thank you to netgalley for a copy of S.D. Rogue I don't Date Superheroes.

Synopsis:
Hana is your average 20-something nurse—except for one small detail: she is responsible for the care of the world’s best kept secret: superheroes—who are known as Paladins. Hana has one very simple rule when it comes to her love life: she doesn’t date superheroes! She’s been there, done that—never again.

Her life gets turned upside down when Bashir, a stunningly good-looking Paladin, shows up at her house and says his life is in danger.

Hana agrees to help him, but in doing so is brought into the web of peril that follows him.

Bashir isn’t like other Paladins. He’s charming, caring, and makes her feel protected.

On top of running for her life, Hana begins to see that she might have one problem: she may be developing feelings for the type of guy she swore she would never date.

Book one of the Paladin series will take you on a page-turning adventure filled with billionaires, exotic locales, superheroes, and sweet romance.
