Book Review: Dangerous Game: An Armed & Dangerous/Circle of Justice Crossover Novel by L.P. Dover

Title:  Dangerous Game: An Armed & Dangerous/Circle of Justice Crossover

Author:  L.P. Dover

Stars: 4

Review:

As a reader I wish I had read the series Dangerous Game is connected to this book to have a better idea about the characters and backstory.  I wasn't expecting this book to be as light and fun after reading the synopsis.  The story is two from two different points of review . Readers will know what is going on at all times.

The characters are just different enough to set itself apart from other books in this genre.

Thank you from netgalley for a copy of L.P Dover Dangerous Game

Synopsis:

That all changed with the death of my father. As I moved into the position of power over the Corsino empire, enemies to the family tried to take over my city. They thought I would be weakened by my loss. They don’t know me.

My name is Dominic Corsino, and I have a ravenous appetite for money, power, and women. The last of which I pushed aside when Faith Hilliard, a close family friend, turned up in need of help. I’ve always wanted her, yet couldn’t bring myself to involve her in the dark savagery of my world. Now, she’s within my grasp once more. If I didn’t fear her running from my brutal truth, I would have already tasted her sweet temptation.

But the time for hesitation passes when a fighter in my underground ring is murdered. With my family name at stake, I can no longer hide who I am and what I’m capable of. It’s all coming down to a one winner-takes-all match. If I walk away with the prize, the threats against the Corsinos will be crushed. If I lose, our entire empire will crumble.

It’s a dangerous game … and I’m ready to play.

Book Review: This Time : A New Adult Urban Fantasy Novel by Azaaa Davis

Title: This Time : A New Adult Urban Fantasy Novel

Author: Azaaa Davis

Stars: 3

Review:

I am still trying to find the right fantasy Novel and so far they all fall short of expectations.  The story has lots of action but the female lead lacks something to pull me into her world.  However Devon was funny at times and a enjoyable character.

The author repeats a lot of scenes making some unnecessary. While the author could have taken away a few things a more detailed backstory would have filled in some missing information.

The story dragged on at times and lets face it even a Urban Fantasy needs a little believability ad this story lack it in spades.

Book Review: In Times of Rain and War By Camron Wright

Title:  In Times of Rain and War

Author:  Camron Wright

Stars: 5

Review:

This story is set in London, during the dark days of the Battle Of Britain, before America entered the war. While this is a factual accounting which has been fictionalized it does not detract from the grim story of the young american marine assigned to a British  Unexploded Bomb detail.  It tells in grim detail the horror of war and the determination of those proud individuals to succeed in an impossible situation. I wish I could say it ended well but this was reality not a fairy tale.

I enjoyed the book (5 stars) and would buy and recommend it to everyone who enjoys a good book.

I received an ARC from Netgalley for my unbiased review.

Thank you Frank for your review!

Synopsis:

In September of 1940, during the Blitz in London, Audrey Stocking is blending in with other civilians who are trying to survive the nightly bombings, but she has a secret. She's not British; she's German. Her fake passport and nearly perfect English allow her to blend in as she works hard to help evacuate British children into the countryside. Audrey longs to reunite with her family in Hamburg, but her double life, the bombings, and the watchful British Military Intelligence have forced her to stay put. And then there are the paralyzing nightmares . . .

Lieutenant Wesley Bowers, an American soldier training with London's Bomb Disposal Company 5, meets Audrey when an air raid leaves an unexploded bomb on the floor of her flat. She is attractive, intelligent, and compassionate, and there's an immediate connection between them. As they get to know each other, Wesley realizes Audrey is the one bright spot amid the war's unending bleakness and constant threat of death. But will he still feel the same if he discovers the secrets she is hiding? Secrets even Audrey is unaware of?
