Book Review - Heir to a Dark Inheritance - Maisey Yates

16160133
Title:  Heir to a Dark Inheritance (Secret Heirs of Powerful Men #2)

Author: Maisey Yates

Review:  This is a thin quick book to read.  The plot was OK, I think that the way they got together in the first place is a bit strange, but oh well if you can think it…it can happen…I guess.

The characters are interesting and yet that same problem in all romances is that both leads are gorgeous, perfect and extremely driven at their choice of careers, and the sex is the best either had ever had in their lives even Alik who admits to sleeping with more women than he can count.  I realize this is the authors way of saying LOVE, but it is the same in almost all romances and it is annoying.  Can we not find another way to describe love without saying it?

The book for the most part was good and quick…it did not drag on in any of the parts and everything moved quick…not more than an hour out of your day should do it….this is like candy..sweet but over too quickly.  The baby added a fun twist to the romance.

Alik is powerful, ruthless and incapable of love. But when he discovers he has a daughter, nothing will stop him from claiming the child as his own.

Jada Patel will do whatever it takes to keep little Leena in her life, even if it means a convenient marriage. Though there can never be a future between them, resisting the powerful Alik is impossible.

Jada thought she'd known desire, but catapulted into Alik's glittering world, she discovers an all-consuming, intoxicating passion that could melt even the coldest of hearts.

Author Biography:  Maisey Yates started writing stories from the moment she first learned how to form words with a pen. But she never had any idea what to write, and most stories sat started, half formed and half finished, but never completed.
During her high school and college years she spent a lot of time dreaming about holding a book in her hands that had her name emblazoned across the front, but she did a lot more dreaming than actual writing.

At her very first job she was fortunate enough to meet her very own tall, dark and handsome hero, who happened to be her boss, and promptly married him and started a family. It wasn't until she was pregnant with her second child that she found her very first Harlequin Presents in a local thrift store. She'd never read a Harlequin romance before, and by the time she'd reached the happily ever after she had fallen in love. She devoured as many as she could get her hands on after that, and she knew that these were the books she wanted to write!

Soon after that she saw online that Harlequin was running a competition to win an editor for a year. She decided that was her sign to get in gear and start writing again. So she wrote her chapter and synopsis and hit send with trembling hands. She didn't get any feedback from the contest, but it was the boost she needed to get her first full manuscript finished and submitted to Presents.

Nearly two years later, while pregnant with her third child, she received The Call from her editor, informing her they wanted to buy that manuscript. She was very glad that the good news didn't send her promptly into labor!

She still can't quite believe she's blessed enough to see her name on, not just any book, but her favorite books.

Maisey lives with her supportive, wonderful, diaper-changing husband and three small children across the street from her parents, and the home she grew up in, in the wilds of Southern Oregon.

She enjoys the contrast of living in a place where you might wake up to find a bear on your back porch and then heading into the home office to write stories that take place in exotic, urban locales.

Other Reviews:
Contemporary Romance "The backdrop setting was as wild as the emotions of the characters. The dialogue was classic Maisey Yates she truly knows how to connect with her readers and does not draw you into the reads slowly no this author makes sure she has your attention from the very first page straight through to the last word.

I highly recommend this read for all Maisey Yates fans but also for readers who love a bad boy hero that goes from zero to hero in achingly slow motion delivering a explosive punch at the end that will leave you begging for more.

Harlequin Junkies "This is a fairly fast paced romance. Heir to a Dark Inheritance flowed smoothly off the pages…I did enjoy reading it even if I did have issues with Jada! I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a romance that’s a little outside of reality with lots sizzle!"
