Book Review - No Biz Like Showbiz - A Lexi Carmichael Mystery - Julie Moffett

Title:  No Biz Like Show Biz

AuthorJulie Moffett

Review:  Lexi Carmichael is back helping geeks everywhere well at least one date at a time. Socially inept computer genies Lexi is sent to Hollywood to find a hacker who is trying to destroy a reality dating show- Geeks Get Some.  When the Geeks decided they want to date a true geek Lexi is brought in but soon the hacker has his sights set on Lexi and between her confusing love life, a studio obsessed with rating and a bunch of contest that put the N in nerd. Lexi is more lost than ever!

As always Julie Moffett had me laughing from beginning to the very end of the book as Lexi tries hard to figure out what she wants in a relationship, life, love and career.  When the hacker makes things personal you fight alongside Lexi as she tries to discover who the hacker is.  This book doesn’t have the action pack of When in Rome but it has all the usually characters her best friend Basis is there to help Lexi figure out the social norms she is lacking, the ever sexy Slash has Lexi trying to figure out her love life and Elvis in more in the background being the best friend Lexi needs. The book is super fun but carries a heavy message about bulling and sometimes that point gets a little to preachy.  Being bullied happens at every stage of life as kids and adults, Geek and non-Geeks alike get bullied and I appreciated Julie Moffett showing that in her fun book. Lexi discover the truth but will she use vengeance or her heart -that you will have to find out when you read No Biz Like Show Biz.

This is a great summer read that will have you as always wondering if Lexi will figure out this thing called LOVE!

Looking forward to the next installment of the Lexi Carmichael Mysteries.

Why I Read this Title:  Netgallery for an honest review

Synopsis:   Lexi Carmichael: helping geeks everywhere get some.

Okay, so it's not exactly as it seems, but that's what's happening on the dating reality show called Geeks Get Some that I, geek extraordinaire Lexi Carmichael, have been called to work on. Not that I'm a fan of reality shows (I can barely deal with my own reality). Still, I've been sent to Hollywood to find a hacker who's screwing with the results of the show's online voting system.

So what happens when I get there? Well, the producers convince me to continue my investigation from the inside. And what should be an easy hunt for the hacker turns ugly when he sets his sights on me. Add to that a studio obsessed with ratings, a bunch of nerdy contestants, and my own confusing love life, and unraveling this mystery might make me a star…or get me killed.

Meet Lexi for the very first time in No One Lives Twice!

Author Information:   I have always been a romantic at heart. So when I finally decided to pursue my dream of writing a novel, naturally, it was a romance. I have published several novels in many genres – historicals, time-travels and paranormals.

I’m a military brat (Air Force) and have traveled extensively. My more exciting exploits include attending high school in Okinawa, Japan (Go, Kubasaki!), backpacking around Europe and Scandanavia for several months, a year-long college study in Warsaw, Poland and a wonderful trip to Scotland and Ireland where I fell in love with castle, kilts and brogues.

I have a B.A. in Political Science and Russian Language from Colorado College and a M.A. in International Affairs from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. I worked as a correspondent for the international radio station, Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty in Washington, D.C. writing hundreds of articles and producing numerous radio programs for eleven years before "retiring" to be a stay-at-home mom and full-time writer in 1999.

I speak Russian and Polish (I married a Pole in 1991!) and love reading foreign literature (especially Slavic). I had a beautiful baby boy named Alexander in 1995. I never knew what joy a child could bring to my life.
