Review:
Breaking her rules is a fun romantic suspense that Katie Reus is known for and I loved her tie into The Serafina: Sin City Series.  Iris Tarango is one of the few women who work in the world of security after she left the Marines. She loves her job but one night in Sin City changed her life forever. Wyatt Christiansen is one force to be reckoned with in and out of the business world and he has known Iris Tarango his whole life so when he had the chance to marry her he wasn’t going to let it go.

I love how fun Katie Reus makes her Red Stone Security series. There are lots of fun characters who would scare me to death if I ever met them in person. She created characters that are fiercely loyal to one another. You never have to question what the characters are going to do and why because she lays it out for the readers so they can enjoy the ride. She always adds a little twist in the end which was not unexpected but it was fun.

Like all of her Red Stone Security novels you do not want to read this without a fan nearby with the will written romances scenes. The book’s pacing is perfect and will not take the reader more than an afternoon to finish it.  With all the authors characters the female leads are strong, feisty, know who they are. The male’s leads are Alpha from head to toe but Wyatt is a little different because this time he is the client and has to watch the woman he loves protect him.

It’s a fun quick read and something you will want to add to your beach reads when summer comes. This book can be read as a standalone but you will enjoy it more if you have read the other novels because characters from those make an appearance.

I am not sure I can sum up American Wife better than say grab a box of tissues and take it a day at a time. This is a beautiful and honest look at life of Taya Kyle. This book will have you smile, laugh, cry and feel heartache for what Taya Kyle with all that she has been though but she doesn’t expect you to feel sorry for her as much as he as asked you to see what life was like living with the American Sniper her Husband, Best friend and the love of her life.

Taya writes about how difficult like is living with a Navy SEAL and the stress it takes on the marriage and family life. Her marriage to Kyle wasn’t easy and she doesn’t sugar coat anything but what she does is constantly fight for what she wants and the peace she is looking for. 

I enjoyed reading her husbands  emails sent while he was deployed overseas. They were sweet and you could read the love he had for his wife. I could never imagine trying to raise my little family alone and yet that is what Taya did while  he was gone.

The reader will laugh as she talks about her pregnancy, the reader will understand the struggle she had in her marriage, they reader will be there for the saddest moment in her life and how the hits keep coming. The best part is the reader will be able to connect with her because of how honest her writing is.

She wrote about the changes Chris had gone though and the PTSD she had to deal with.

I do not cry it’s just something I just don’t’ do unless I’m hurt. (AKA broken toes) I cried when she spoke of her husband’s death, I cried as she told her children of their father’s death and I cried as she wrote about never seeing Chris in person again.  I cried because you could feel the pain she felt as you read her words.

 I loved that she never once blamed God but accepted that there is a plan for everyone. I loved that her daughter would talk about how she could hear her father and that he was talking to her.

”The Faith of the innocents is truly a blessed faith.”  Another Quote in the book I found to be sweet when you look back on the email’s Chris had sent. Taya wrote “It’s ok to be mad at God. He can handle it.” In the emails Chris had wrote those same words many times to Taya.

“I do not need to romanticize Chris, because our reality is messy, passionate, full of everything extreme emotions known to man, including fear, compassion, anger, pain, laughing so hard we double over and hugged it out, laughing when we were irritated with each other and laugh when we were so in love it felt like someone hung the moon for only us.”  I love that she doesn’t tell the world their life was perfect and I think that is something everyone needs to know that life isn't a fairy tale and marriage isn’t a walk in the park it is everything she spoke of and more.

Taya Kyle’s honest thoughts on her life I feel will help many who deal with the loss of a loved one knowing they are not alone and its ok to seek help. 

I enjoyed the way Taya wrapped up the book with a lists of lessons she learned. Each one can be applied to life in different way but each are extremely important. 

I couldn’t write this review without writing my personals thoughts because this book is an intimate book at Taya Kyle’s life and I believe anyone who reads this book will look at their life and finds ways to work on being a better person.

Book Review - Leverage - Janie Crouch

Review:
Dylan Branson left Omega Sector after saving lives because of the loss of two. Shelby Keelan has an amazing photographic memory for numbers so when Dylan is told to bring the computer expert to DC he finds she is more than he expected. People are out to kill her as they race to stop a count down to what you ask? Well that is what they are trying to find out.

This was the first time I have ever read anything by Jamie Crouch and while the writing was simple and basic I found the story to be lacking. It was extremely predictable from the bad guys to the hot good guys. Even the mysterious mole was obvious once the person was introduced. I had hoped for a crazy twist because everything about the book was predictable and how many hot and amazing good looking people can be in one room at a time?

There was romance that was left behind closed doors which is nice to read for a change. The action was great but there was too much inner monolog to keep me interested and I found myself quickly reading to get to the dialog that would move the story forward.

They action was good and that was the only thing about this book I enjoyed. I loved that Shelby just took what came at her with amazing stride and for someone who hates to be around anyone but those she knows it was pretty awesome.

I found the book lacked passion in how the author was telling the story. I wasn't convinced that Omega was trying to save  DC in fact I would have rather been at the bomb site than in the alley. I loved  Shelby because she wasn't your typical heroin and I enjoyed how she was blunt and honest. However Dylan came off a little to annoying, almost whiny and couldn't seem to ever make up his mind. Even when he did at the end of the book I couldn't help wonder would he leave her again. I just wasn't convince he had changed.

This book left me scratching my head wondering if she other 3 books were better.

Review:  This is a regency treasure hunter romance/mystery story that takes place in 1818. It starts out in Wiltshire, specifically the village of Wooten Bassett, before moving to Wales. It involves two strong characters, Major Elijah Hollister-- rather Lord Bloody Norris and Miss Catriona Bowen.

Elijah has come into his title owing to the untimely death of his brother and has just returned from Australia having been there for several years. Miss Bowen arrives on his doorstep seeking to purchase an old Welsh tapestry. Miss Bowen believes that the tapestry is a hidden map that will lead to a sword that belonged to one of Arthur' knights of old. Mistrust and attraction, to each other, soon lead them into Wales and each other's arms. The story flowed well and the overall plot was not flawed.

I enjoyed the book and rated it a solid four stars. I would read other titles by this writer.

Book Review - The Dead Key - D M Pulley

Title:  The Dead Key

Author: D M Pulley

Review:  A brilliant story about a bank that has been closed for twenty years. Although closed it still has a security guard employed. The bank closed overnight and is finally being considered for selling. The vault containing the safety deposit boxes is there with the boxes unopened and there the real story begins. It is actually two stories being told, one taking place currently and the other just prior to the banks closing. What is contained within the safety deposit boxes? Why are all of the bank keys to open the boxes missing? What is a dead key and how is it used? A story involving intrigue, death, assault, and hidden treasure all of the elements of a good mystery.

I rated this book 5 star. But I would also rate it as a page turner. A page turner is a book that you do not want to put down even though you know you should be doing something else like turn the light off and go to sleep.

Review:  A little package with big sound -  I pulled this out of the package and paired it to my phone within minutes without using the instructions - it was charged and ready to go right out of the package - it paired to my phone and I played Pandora as I did the dishes - I carried it outside and it can get quite far while still playing.

Easy to use and small for the sound you get - it doesn't go super loud but it was a good level of sound for me - great price not expensive for what you are getting with this sound bar - it will alert you to calls and notifications on your phone also as the music plays - when I took a video of the bar it cut out the sound while I used my video - and then went right back to playing when I finished the video - 

My family is now fighting over who gets this item in their room - I have it currently and have enjoyed this item when I am in my room working on my computer or cleaning the house.   I take it to the kitchen and the living room to play music while I am busy- great item that I will take to work for the last few days of school when it is down time.

This book was sent from Netgalley as an Advance copy.

Dan Molina is sent to the hurricane ravaged Caribbean island of St. Isidore to find and bring home a kidnapped aid worker by the name of Alexa Alyssandrao. His mission falls apart when he realized that Alexa is Alyssa the only women to shatter his heart.  When Alyssa refuses to leave the Island until sick children are safe Dan does everything he can to protect the one woman he loves from disappearing forever. 

Who doesn’t love second chance love stories with an alpha male and a strong female character who is trying to use her money to bring good into a torn apart country? However once I started the book it became really clear that Alyssa would be one of the female leads I wouldn’t be able to connect with because she take the weight of the world on her shoulders and is never good enough to love anyone because of one mistake in life. I figure Dan would be the redeeming characters instead he was annoying, just as whiny as Alyssa and couldn’t seem to stop pinning for the woman until he got her into bed. 

Basically the story lacks creativity- it needed to be something new in the military\merc genre of books. The authors wording was slightly off she used the word redding to described when Alyssa blushed and other times a different word would have been better to describe what was going on. The ending twist was pretty obvious to the reader bring zero twist to the book. I agreed with Mick in the book when he said “You’re letting her do this to you again.”

Dan was a weak character. Alyssa was a weak character and the story lacked creativity. The sex scenes were uncomfortable to read, the fight scenes were ok and the dialog had moments of being funny but fell short.  I expect a lot when it comes to this genre because there are so many well written novels out there this is not one of them.

Book Review - Lion Heart - A. C Gaughen - Released May 15th

Review:
I have never been so excited to read the end of a series in my entire life.  I mean I didn't want to say goodbye to Scarlet and Robin Hood but all good things must come to an end and I think A.C. Gaughen did a wonderful job saying good bye.

We pick up right where the last book left off give or take a few months Scarlet is in prison trying to get free. We are introduced to several new characters each one building the story A.C. Gaughen started with Scarlett. As always the author stayed true to her characters with one exception I wished some how John was in this book. Scarlet struggles with her identity but when she finally accepts who she really is and what power she hold the whole book heads into a wonderful direction causing the reader to want to learn more about this time in history to find the truth from the stories.

This book shows so much growth in A.C. Gaughen writing style and I look forward to seeing what else she plans to write. The first book in the series had moment where I wasn't sure it was well written but more a writing assignment but as I have read the other two she had grown in her writing ability.

When the book ends you can tell A.C. Gaughen wanted to keep the story going because the end doesn't feel like an end but a pause in the story.  I wanted to ask What happened to King Richard? The author fills in the historical details which was fun but I really wanted more I wanted to get to know Scarlet and how she would be with her father. Even if it is just fiction I would have enjoyed reading that interaction.

This book dives more into the history of England which I enjoyed since I am a history nut. 

This book completes the trilogy that I didn't want to end. I will miss Scarlet, Robin Hood, and Much!

Review:  Fun to use and great for window art - we now love to decorate our windows for any and every occasion - Car Windows - for weddings - graduations - birthdays - anniversaries - any and all special and not so special occasions - these are fun to use and my class at school loves to decorate the windows also - a bit of a fight broke out so the markers were put on a time-out until peace and be reestablished in the class.
