Review:

I was completely enchanted with this book and the manner in which the story was told. It was laid out in different sections from different characters viewpoint. I found the main character to be larger than life and was  rooting for him even when he was wrong or at least appeared to be wrong. He is a man of principals but able to admit when he he has made a mistake. I found myself at the end of the story wanting to see the next chapter in his life unfold.

I have given this a 4 star rating. I would recommend it to any reader who enjoys a British murder mystery.

Synopsis:
A nude female floats dead in a large reservoir lake south of Bristol. To solve the "Lady of the Lake" mystery, and save a woman unjustly accused, Sussex Detective Superintendent Peter Diamond must find two missing letters attributed to Jane Austen, and defy his superiors.

Peter (Harmer) Lovesey (born 1936 in Whitton, Middlesex) is a British writer of historical and contemporary crime novels and short stories. His best-known series characters are Sergeant Cribb, a Victorian-era police detective based in London, and Peter Diamond, a modern-day police detective in Bath. Lovesey's novels and stories mainly fall into the category of entertaining puzzlers in the "Golden Age" tradition of mystery writing.

Most of Peter Lovesey's writing has been done under his own name. However, he did write three novels under the pen name Peter Lear.

Lovesey's novels and short stories have won him a number of awards, including both the Gold and Silver Daggers of the Crime Writers' Association, of which he was chairman in 1991/92. In 2000, he received the Cartier Diamond Dagger Award for lifetime achievement in crime writing.

Peter Lovesey lives near Chichester. His son Phil Lovesey also writes crime novels.

MotherHood One Week! One Week

One Week and school starts!

Humorous moments as a mom:

Watching the youngest an his dad play is fun but listening to my 3 year old yell "Eat me like a Doughnut!" Over an over again had me laughing. "EAT ME LIKE A DOUGHNUT!"

My Oldest declared.  "Mom we did absolutely nothing this summer."  That was 3 days after a sleepover, visit to a museum, USA Gym and his 10th birthday party. I pulled out my photos and showed him everything he did. He shrugged his shoulders and walked away.

7 year old daughter jumped up and down like tigger as her dad pulls out a pink eye patch for her to wear. "Oh Dad its perfect I will be the pretties pirate." Then she goes around the house arg at everyone.


Last but not least is my 5 year old. When I told everyone how nervous I was about my shy little girl going to school. "Heidi she isn't shy. She is totally playing you."  Following the point finger she was running around with kids her age or bigger.

Now that I will only have one at home I have big plans to update photo books, go for walks, read and read and read.  I might consider potty training my 3 year old.

Review:

A well told historical romance that you would not be ashamed to give to your mother or grandmother to read. It is a delightful story with strong characters that will warm your heart and draw your empathy. It takes you back in time to a period when good manners and self honor prevailed among the ton. The hero comes through in the end and all ends well for our sassy heroine.

I gave a four star rating to this book. I would recommend it if you enjoy historical romance  books.

I obtained this book in Kindle format from Amazon.

Review:

A compelling story line that involves the reader in a fantastic tale. Not only is it a mystery and mild romance but also has a science fiction twist thrown in for good measure. The main character is not invincible but flesh and blood like the reader. I foresee this being a very successful series that will attract an array of dedicated readers from young adults to seniors. All of whom will be delighted and look forward to the next installment.

I have given this book a 4.5 star rating. I would recommend it to anyone who likes to be entertained by a story with a flair for the unknown.

Book Review Goodbye, Ms Chips by Dorothy Cannell

Review:
 If you are a fan of mysteries without a lot of gore and violence this is the perfect book. The author presents a story that takes Ellie Haskell back to her old school to solve the mystery of a missing trophy cup. While there she, and her sidekick, manage to not only find the missing cup but to sleuth out the killer of the former PT instructor and also solve a very old hit and run. I enjoyed the book and manner in which it was put forth.
