I read The Passage a few months ago, and I really liked it. It was a roller coaster ride for me though. The first half of the book is especially magnetic. I couldn't put it down. But I was disappointed at the halfway point. I felt like I had been led to care about characters who were killed off for convenience, and then it seemed as if I was expected to attach myself to brand new characters in a new story. Eventually, the book came together, and it all made sense so that by the end of The Passage, I was happy I had spent all that time reading. There are definitely shades of The Stand in the novel; maybe that's why I liked it. It's interesting that it's going to be a series. I'll be curious to read the next one.
