Book Review How to Overcome Eating Disorders Breaking Free for a Better Life by Louise V Taylor

How to Overcome Eating Disorders by Louise V Taylor
Title: How to Overcome Eating Disorders Breaking Free for a Better Life

Author:  Louise V Taylor

Stars: 4 out of 5

Review:
As someone who struggles with an eating disorder I am always looking for books to help guide me and those around me to better understand What an eating disorder is and how really it never goes away you never really overcome an eating disorder you learn to cope.
Louise Taylor uses a lot of information help those who do not understand eating disorders in hopes they are able to understand what triggers an eating disorder. Society, Mental Health, PTSD and so much more.
I appreciated that she covered the fact eating disorders are an addiction. I have found most people feel or think an eating disorder is done for attention when in fact its not. Its an addiction just like drinking, sex and drugs. I can honestly say it is like a runners high after not eating for 24hrs.
She covers society desire to have women look like the women on runways. Hangers for clothing as I like to call it.
The author paints a wonderful picture of what can trigger an eating disorder.
She gives readers different areas of healing, therapies, and support groups.
Louise Taylor uses UK stats but they are the same all over and much high in the United States.
No one wakes up in the morning and decides to have an eating disorder is is as much about control as it is about fighting the lack of self esteem.
She covers all different types of eating disorder and goes into details from the ones everyone knows Anorexia, Bulimia, to lesser know Binge Eating, Purging disorder and more.

I high recommended this book to those who have a family member, friend suffering from an eating disorder so they can help love and guide that person to finding a way to live with an addiction to food. Knowing it will never go away but they can learn to cope and adapt.

Thank you to netgalley and the publisher Pen & Sword White Owl for the advance copy. It is a wonderful book that will open eyes if people are willing to read it.

Book Review Unspeakable (Beyond Human #2) by Nina Croft

Unspeakable by Nina Croft

Title: Unspeakable (Beyond Human #2)

Author: Nina Croft

Stars: 4 out of 5

Review:
First off I highly recommended readers start with the first in the series. I didn't and while the author gives readers a very fast overview of that happened in the first book and it helps new readers start the series. I was lost many times but still found the story enjoyable.
I will say even without reading the first book in the series I was able to catch up quickly and found myself enjoying the story.
The science fiction/Paranormal aspect of the story doesn't overwhelm the story and some readers might find it interesting
The story is well crafted with a decent pace that will keep readers reading without being bogged down with Paranormal\Science Fiction lingo that other books in this genre have done.
The character development in interesting since the author Nina Croft has to keep track of all their special abilities. Even without reading the first book I think readers of mystery as well as Paranormal/Science will enjoy this series
The story move quickly and will have twist and turns for mystery readers to enjoy.

About The Author:
Nina Croft
Growing up in the cold, wet, north of England, Nina Croft spent a lot of time dreaming of faraway sunnier places and ponies. When she discovered both, along with a whole load of other things, could be found between the covers of a book, her life changed forever.

Later, she headed south, picked up the perfect husband along the way, and together they volunteered to work in Africa. There they discovered a love of exotic places and a dislike of 9-5 work. Afterward they spent a number of years travelling (whenever possible) intermingled with working (whenever necessary.) Eventually they stumbled upon a remote area in the mountains of southern Spain and the small almond farm they now call home.

Nina spends her days reading, writing and riding her mare, Gencianna, under the blue Spanish skies—sunshine and ponies. She reckons this is proof that dreams really can come true if you want them enough.

Nina's writing mixes romance with elements of the paranormal and science fiction

I will admit I was able to find figure out the killer right away which was a bit of a disappointment for me not to mention it is the movie body guard but with an actress.  The authors character building as well as the suspense will keep readers reading even after they figure out the plot.

Book Review Savage Rising (Redemption Harbor #2) by Katie Reus

Savage Rising (Redemption Harbor #2)
Title: Savage Rising (Redemption Harbor #2)

Author:  Katie Reus

Stars: 4 out of 5

Review:
This series can be read as a stand alone but honestly you will enjoy the characters and story more if you read the first book in the series.
If you have read the author Kaite Rues this book is what you have come to expect from her series. Bad guys, blackmail, insta love, with boot kicking face punching fast pace story.
I would love to say this book surprised me but in all honestly it is very much like all of her books. The characters feel they do not deserve love find the one women they become obsessed over and have to have and bam a few killing later White Picket fence.
Nothing stood out but it wasn't a terrible book either.  Her writing style is very easy to read while doing other things or having a night quite afternoon.

Readers of Katie Rues will love this next book in the series and new readers will enjoy it but as for this reader it just didn't sing. I was hoping for a different recipe from Katie Rues with this series but instead it is the same type of story. I have read from Katie Rues many times over.

Synopsis:
He's a former Marine, her new fake boyfriend, and the only way to escape her dangerous past.

But when the most dangerous person she ever met blackmails her into doing one last heist, the world she’s so carefully built goes into a tailspin. Frantic, she heads to Redemption Harbor in search of help. Sparks fly when she meets Savage, a man who will do anything to keep Olivia and her daughter safe. He’ll help her get her life back, but can he handle seeing who she once was?

Can they pull it off?  (Seriously? I mean come on we already know the answer otherwise we wouldn't be reading the story really.)

Savage poses as her obsessive ex during a daring undercover operation—and soon the line between reality and their cover story becomes blurred. He’ll use every trick he knows to keep the sensual woman alive and out of jail—and in his life. But the clock is ticking and if they can’t find a way to trust each other, no one will make it out alive.

Book Review The Last Move by Mary Burton

The Last Move
Title: The Last Move

Author:  Mary Burton

Stars: 5 out of 5

Review:
The Last Move is a nail biting suspense where the smartest FBI agent is working to find a serial killer that is from her past.
Kate Hayden is a smart, strong female character that works hard for respect but works harder for the victims of the killers she puts behind bars. Mary Burton made Kate likable strong, and willing to face her fears even when it comes from her nightmares.
The story is strong with twist and turns readers of mystery and thrillers will enjoy.  The author doesn't hide who the killer is but the motive starts to come together and readers will feel the rush of discovering the truth before Kate does.

With many suspense write that have the female lead as an FBI agent they always write her as unlikable to all but the one male lead who finds her amazing.  This time is it was more in the protagonist head that she was unlikable, blunt, crass and the odd duck.  The author wrote her charming, endearing and likable.

The Last Move is well paced. The romance /sex seemed a little oddly placed and I wouldn't call this a romantic suspense.  It felt thrown in there with no purpose other than to have a sex scene in the book and show readers Kate can connect with someone.
The murders are graphic as well as the details of Kate's past.

This is a must read author for readers of thriller Mysteries.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher Montlake for the chance to review Mary Burton's latest novel

Synopsis:
Catching monsters helps FBI agent Kate Hayden keep her nightmares at bay. Now an urgent call brings her back to San Antonio, the scene of her violent past. A brutal new murder shows hallmarks of a serial killer nicknamed the Samaritan. Tricky part is, Kate already caught him.

Either Kate made a deadly error, or she’s got a copycat on her hands. Paired with homicide detective Theo Mazur, she quickly realizes this murder is more twisted than it first appeared. Then a second body is found, the mode of death identical to a different case that Kate thought she’d put behind her.

Now Kate and Detective Mazur aren’t just working a homicide; the investigative pair is facing a formidable enemy who knows Kate intimately. While Mazur is personally trying to protect Kate, the closer they are drawn to the killer, the clearer it becomes that in this terrifying game, there is only one rule: don’t believe everything you see

About The Author:
Mary Burton
Mary Burton loves writing suspense, researching law enforcement and forensic procedures, baking, books, and tiny dachshunds. Not necessarily in that order.

She also enjoys hunting down serial killers, which she does in her New York Times and USA Today bestselling novels of suspense and romance. She’s tracked them down in stories set in her hometown of Richmond, Alexandria, Austin, Nashville and San Antonio that have been praised by readers and reviewers. Her work has been compared to that of James Patterson*, Lisa Gardner** and Lisa Jackson***.

Research is a favorite part of Mary’s work day. She never tires of learning more about police procedures, and evidence collection and analysis and doesn’t hesitate to take a hands-on approach, whether it means interviews with those working in the field, forensic seminars or lessons at the firing range.

A Richmond native, Mary has lived there for most of her life. She is a graduate of Virginia’s Hollins University and worked in marketing before she began writing full time. Her first book was published in 2000 and she’s now the author of thirty-three published novels and five novellas, including her contemporary women’s fiction written as Mary Ellen Taylor.

Known for creating multiple stories connected by characters and settings, such as her recent The Forgotten Files novels, her new book, The Last Move, is her first “standalone” in eleven years. In it she takes readers to San Antonio, where FBI Agent Kate Hayden and Detective Theo Mazur confront resurrected serial killer “Samaritan”—and Kate’s past.

When not traveling for research or visiting with readers at bookstores, book festivals and conferences, Mary remains very much a homebody. She and her husband spend time alternately enjoying and lamenting their empty nest and spoiling their four legged babies Buddy, Bella and Tiki.

Her Last Good Bye is a paced mystery that will keep readers on their toes, romance lovers sighing over Lance and Morgan and everyone else will enjoy the ride.

Author Melinda Leigh is one author that it doesn't matter how many books I read I can't seem to get enough of the stories.  I have read everything she has written and I have yet to find one book that isn't a 5 star read.

The progression in the character development, rise and fall of the story as it progresses as well as the suspense that will have readers biting their nails is just one of the many reasons Melinda Leigh a must read author!

Book Review: The Lady And The Duke by Hanna Hamilton

The Lady and the Duke, Book 1
Title: The Lady And The Duke Book 1

Author: Hanna Hamilton

Stars: 4 stars out of 5

Review:
A delightful romance with likeable characters and a good solid storyline. An easy read that can be finished in two days without a problem. The main story take place in Shropshire which is an area I am not familiar with but it did not detract from the storyline for me. I was also pleased that there was not any pages of unnecessary sex scenes to detract from the story.

I have rated this book 4 stars and would read other offerings from this author.

I obtained this book from Amazon in Kindle format.

Book Review Gold Street by Kathy T Kale

Gold Street
Title: Gold Street

Author: Kathy T. Kale

Stars: 4 1\2

Review:
An excellent conspiracy mystery that very much reminded me of the last election. The major difference being that Bernie was not a third-party candidate and was not murdered. It involved all of the major alphabets of the federal government as well as banks, wall street, and three foreign governments. Overall it was a great story that was well told.

I have rated this book 4.5 stars.

I obtained this book from Amazon in Kindle format.

Book Review: Find Me (Corrupted Hearts Book 3) by Tiffany Snow

Find Me (Corrupted Hearts Book 3)
Title: Find Me (Corrupted Hearts Book 3)

Author: Tiffany Snow

Stars: 4 out of 5

Review:
Tiffany Snow is well known for her romance love triangles as well as the hot sexy scenes she writes.
I have read all of this authors books and while some are written with sex scenes first and than she fills in the details the Corrupted Heart series is written with the story in mind and everything else fills in as the story moves forward.

China is a characters readers will fall in love with with her nerdy and very comfortable in her quite life. I could do without the love triangle because it will always leave one set of readers upset when the character doesn't choose the one they assume the female should be with. As well as it makes the female characters less strong and almost selfish because she can't seem to make a decision and stick to it.

China slowly discovers who she is and how she is able to handle her comfortable life tuned upside down. readers will watch she has struggle trying to understand the knew her and keeping true to who she is inside.

Find me has a killer that is hell bend on retribution which will keep readers reading. Wondering how China and the boyfriends will be able to stop the killer as well as keep everyone safe and alive.

About The Author:
Tiffany Snow
I love to stick with characters over a series of books when I read, which is the same way I write. The Kathleen Turner Series, Risky Business Series, Tangled Ivy Trilogy, and now the Corrupted Hearts Series all feature continuing characters. My latest novel, FOLLOW ME, is book one in the Corrupted Hearts Series with China Mack--the most unlikely of heroines. BREAK ME, book two, will be out in March, 2017.

As for me, I've been reading romance novels since I was way too young to read such things, have an unhealthy obsession for all things Doctor Who, prefer Pepsi to Coke and Absolut to both, think men who drink girly cocktails are wusses, have learned to never stop believing in my beloved St. Louis Cardinals, and can recite the entire scripts of When Harry Met Sally and Apollo 13. George Washington is cool, Bon Jovi still rocks the house, and Bruce Willis is the ultimate alpha-male hero. Most of all, romance never, ever gets old.

Book Review For Whom The Bread Rolls (A Pancake House Mystery) by Sarah Fox

For Whom the Bread Rolls (A Pancake House Mystery #2)
Title: For Whom The Bread Rolls (A Pancake House Mystery)

Author: Sarah Fox

Stars: 4 out of 5

Review:
An excellent cozy mystery with a minimum of violence. The main character, who came into her business and home, by way of an inheritance has grit and determination. She is not easily swayed and follows thru on her instincts to a successful conclusion. I believe there is also a budding romance in the works. It will be interesting to follow this series to see how it progresses. I liked the story and was a little surprised as to who the murderer turned out to be in the end.

I have given this book a four star rating.

I received an ARC from Netgalley for my unbiased review.

Book Review Wicked Deeds (Krewe of Hunters #23) by Heather Graham

Wicked Deeds (Krewe of Hunters, #23)
Title: Wicked Deeds (Krewe of Hunters #23)

Author: Heather Graham

Stars: 3 1/2 out of 5

Review:
I struggled though this book and yest I finished it there was something lacking.  I wasn't able to connect to the endless characters as well as the ghost story.  I love reading Edgar Allan Poe but something didn't quite connect.
Heather Graham uses a lot of Poe type of writing creating misdirection that the detectives follow.  The story has history that will consume readers as the author gives readers another idea of what might have happened to Poe.
The story does pose most paranormal with a mystery but I found the it just lacking something.  The story and chacaters didn't connect and many times the story would slow down only to rush though other parts that could have used a little more time and understanding.
This is considered a Stand Alone but honestly I was lost several times between the different characters to why the characters reacted certain ways.
