Review: This is a collection of drawings and facts about extraterrestrials that have been encountered by humans or have been rumored to exist. The drawings and descriptions of the beings is quite detailed and in some cases beautiful. I reviewed the condensed version, but the full hardback version is now available for purchase.
If you are a sci-fi fan and want to know what may be out there, this is the books for you. Details in the drawings bring the figures to life and the descriptions help you really put the pieces together of what the universe outside of our tiny planet might really be like. Do aliens exist? Maybe, read this book and really think about what it would be like to encounter one or more of these unique races someday.

Synopsis: Just in time for the approach of the reputedly transformative year 2012, a comprehensive collection of extraterrestrial life-forms as visualized and vividly-rendered by Pat Lee of Transformers, DC, and Marvel comics fame. Within the UFO and exopolitics communities, there is both debate and consensus about many of the "known" extraterrestrial races, but seldom have they been revealed in this level of detail. To the believer, the curious, or just open-minded, the Extraterrestrial Compendium provides fuel for thought.

Author Biography: At an early age of 16, Lee began his career in the comic book industry right after graduating in high school by sending over 150 pages of sample artworks to uninterested Marvel and DC editors. It took nearly a year before he finally caught the attention of Image co-founder Rob Liefeld at a Toronto convention in 1994. Four months later, he was hired by Image Comics and went off to train at Extreme Studios. There, he learned an invaluable skill: speed. In an interview with Wizard he states:
“When I was working there, I'd have work slapped down at me. It's gotta be done today. I'd hear, and I figured, okay, this is something I've gotta get used to.[3] ”
Lee worked on various titles such as Bloodpool, Extreme Sacrifice, Black Flag, House of M: Iron Man, Glory, Darkchylde, Avengeblade, Extreme Prelude, and Prophet. Soon after, he was hired in Wildstorm Productions to work on Jim Lee's WildC.A.T.S., Allegra and Whilce Portacio's Wetworks. His career in comic books led him to work in Marvel Comics with a Wolverine/Punisher mini-series entitled Revelation.[4]
Lee has illustrated cards for the Magic: The Gathering collectible card game.
