Book Review: Hardest Fall (Dominion #2) by Juliette Cross

Hardest Fall (Dominion, #2)
Title: Hardest Fall (Dominion #2)

Author:  Juliette Cross

Stars: 3 stars

Review:
Readers if this blog might notice I am not big on paranormal romance series.  I am branching out but still struggle.  While this is book 2 of the Dominion series which the author cover a little of what happened in the first book. Bones makes magical weapons her character isn't likable at all.  Story feel more sex\romance with demons, angels, demonic beings.  The writing can be confusing at times with the detail descriptions that take away from the flow of the story.
I am still lost is this a world post apocalyptic  or the world is coming to an end. Either way I am not a fan of this series or the authors writing style.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy of Juliette Cross Hardest Fall.

Synopsis:
The tattooed demoness, Bone, doesn’t like anything except the magical weapons she makes. But she has hidden talents few know about. When I was brought to her near death, she used her Seraph song to manipulate flesh and bone to save me. But she wasn’t happy about it.

Book Review: Challenge Accepted! by Celeste Barber

Challenge Accepted!
Title:  Challenge Accepted!

Author: Celeste Barber

Stars: 5

Review:
If readers follow her Instagram page this book is a must read that will have you crying so hard from laughing.  Celeste Barber is funny and her voice comes though loud and clear though her story about pregnancy and her hot husband.  She makes fun of herself and her decisions she has made though life.
This is the book ever mother could write but Celeste Barber takes her background in humor making this book a laugh out loud book on life as a woman, mother and wife.

The author connects to readers though her love my body but also gives a different message when she refers to her husband as "Hot Husband." Which makes it ok so Woman to talk about men looks but it not ok for men to talk about women appearances.
You can not have a double standard in this day and age.  Its all or nothing.

That would be the only issues this review could find. Go out and buy this book because we could all use a laugh,

Book Review: Ranger’s Protection (SEAL & Veteran Series Book 3) by Leslie North

RangerĂ¢€™s Protection (SEAL & Veteran Series Book 3)
Title: Ranger’s Protection (SEAL & Veteran Series Book 3)

Author: Leslie North

Stars: 3.75

Review:
Leslie North is a hit or miss author for me.  I have read several different books in her book series only to find out that some of the books follow the same basic pattern while others might follow the pattern the characters, action or story line come alive.
Rangers Protection is another one of those I can't put in a miss or a hit. The characters were likable but Viktoria does the one things female characters all do in this type of bodyguard story. They push away the person who is suppose to protect them and refuse to listen.  Yes it can make for great drama but this time is felt forced taking away what made the female lead likable. The action packed ending is worth the read.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of Leslie North Ranger's Protection.

Synopsis:
Viktoria Jonsdottir is none too pleased with the personal bodyguard her father has insisted on hiring to keep her safe. Safe from what, she has no idea, but she’s convinced having this brooding man hovering over her is completely unnecessary. All she wants to do is get to New York where her father is conducting high level meetings for their corporation—meetings she arranged, to prove her value to the company. Sure, Lee MacCallister is sexy as hell and his eyes would make an ordinary woman swoon. But Viktoria is no ordinary woman. She’s not going to fall for Lee, even if he does make her feel things she’s never felt before. Like this strange new emotion that just might be…happiness.

It’s a simple enough assignment for the former Army Ranger—protect some rich, spoiled woman for a few days then pick up the check. Only thing is, Viktoria isn’t like any woman he’s ever met. He can keep it professional, even though she’s beyond tempting as sin. But when things get dicey and Victoria’s enemies prove to be far more dangerous than Lee anticipated, he realizes Viktoria has become more than an assignment—she’s become personal. And that could be the most dangerous thing of all.

Leslie North
Leslie North is the pen name for a critically-acclaimed author of women's contemporary romance and fiction. The anonymity gives her the perfect opportunity to paint with her full artistic palette, especially in the romance and erotic fantasy genres.

The truth of the matter is she loves her fictional persona, Leslie North, more than her normal, day-to-day persona! Her bestselling books focus on strong characters and particularly women who aren't afraid to challenge an alpha male. Inspired after years of travel, her stories are set all over the world, from the tough streets of Russia to the beautiful beaches of the middle east.

Leslie fell in love with romance when she first picked up a scrappy, dog-eared romance book from her local library. She began writing soon after and the rest, as they say, was history. She now lives in a cozy cottage on the British coast and enjoys taking long walks with her two Dalmatians, George and Fergie.

Book Review: A Serial Killer's Daughter: My Story of Faith, Love, and Overcoming by Kerri Rawson

A Serial Killer's Daughter: My Story of Faith, Love, and Overcoming
Title: A Serial Killer's Daughter: My Story of Faith, Love, and Overcoming

Author: Kerri Rawson

Stars:

Review:
As a reader readers I think this title is misleading. Yes Kerri is the daughter of a serial killer but this story lacks the true crime story line was promoted to readers.  The story lacks focus and long winded stories. The story is more about Kerri Childhood and when she found out about her father being a serial killer but moves quickly though parts of the history quickly when true crimes would be more focus on the crimes instead of her memories.
If this story was promoted more as a  religious memoir I think the author would be able to find a different audience.  Thank you Netgalley and publisher  Thomas Nelson for Kerri Rawson A Serial Killers Daughter.

Backlash
Title: Backlash

Author: Lisa Jackson

Stars: 2 1\2 Stars

Review:
Lisa Jackson tells readers right away this was written back in the 1980's and readers will be able to see the amazing growth the author has come though.
The men in the stories are rough and demanding. They grab and take what they want even though the women are suffering the loss of their innocents youth.  The story is a second chance romance.  The romance comes off forced, demanding and lot most pushing to the women.

The mystery is second or third to the romance.   The Colton Brothers are jerks and do not change has the stories develop.
The story lacks drive and focus other than punishing the woman they love.  The stories are not what readers have come to know about Lisa Jackson now.

Book Review: Unforsaken (The Fallen Guardians #1) by Cassie Laelyn

Unforsaken (The Fallen Guardians, #1)
Title: Unforsaken (The Fallen Guardians #1)

Author: Cassie Laelyn

Stars: 3 1\2

Review:
I am not much of a Paranormal romance reader. I have found that each author has there own mythology that can create confusion for some readers.
Unforsaken starts off painstaking slow because the author wants to introduce all of her characters that will be though her series.
For paranormal romance readers this might be a new author.  The story stalls around the middle of the story but it picks up once again towards the end.
The author gives a unique take on the paranormal world that doesn't add up for this reader but others will love it.

When I saw this pop up for review I knew I had to read this.  I am always looking for a natural way to help my body, and mind heal after a long day as mom.  Not to mention teach my children how to heal after their long days.
Information is present in a "proven method" however readers need to remember that it is proven to this author but not medical science.  The text explains the areas well but the art work is cartoonist and makes it harder to find the location on the body.

The editing, cartoonist art work and font type used in this book will be distracting to most readers and will not take this author or book serious. Which is sad due to the experience and information this author has for readers the editing and design makes it unappealing to mass audience.

Book Review: Navy SEAL to the Rescue (Aegis Security #1) by Tawny Weber

Navy SEAL to the Rescue (Aegis Security #1)
Title: Navy SEAL to the Rescue (Aegis Security #1)

Author: Tawny Weber

Stars: 3 1\2 stars

Review:
I will confess the best part of reading Harlequin romantic suspense series is Wham Bam thank you ma'am in the perfect small package.
This book is the traditional Harlequin style of book readers have been used to. The couple is instantly hot for each other.  She is the rich girl trying to make a life outside of her fathers wishes.  Seal is trying to figure out life now that he isn't a seal.  Throw in tropical background, people disappearing and what could go wrong.
The couple lust for each other until they are in bed and out of bed and back in bed again. Guns, shooting, and running away from each other until they realize they need each other.

It is a traditional Harlequin and a very quick read that readers can finishing in a night. The book doesn't stand out as a must read but a pick up at the airport to pass the time.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher Harlequin for the advance copy of Tawny Weber Navy SEAL to the Rescue.

Book Review: American Princess: A Novel of First Daughter Alice Roosevelt by Stephanie Thornton

American Princess: A Novel of First Daughter Alice Roosevelt
Title: American Princess

Author: Stephanie Marie Thornton

Stars: 4

Review:
A tremendous story (although fiction) that contains enough fact to enlighten the reader as to the life and times of this admirable lady. She made no bones about her beliefs and desires. She was politically astute and championed many causes when women were considered to be totally oblivious to political and business matters. Through all of this she was gracious and retained her dignity although her personal life was in shambles.

I have rated this book 4 stars.

I received an ARC from Netgalley for my unbiased review.

Thank you Frank for the Review.

Synopsis:
A sweeping novel from renowned author Stephanie Marie Thornton...

Alice may be the president's daughter, but she's nobody's darling. As bold as her signature color Alice Blue, the gum-chewing, cigarette-smoking, poker-playing First Daughter discovers that the only way for a woman to stand out in Washington is to make waves--oceans of them. With the canny sophistication of the savviest politician on the Hill, Alice uses her celebrity to her advantage, testing the limits of her power and the seductive thrill of political entanglements.

But Washington, DC is rife with heartaches and betrayals, and when Alice falls hard for a smooth-talking congressman it will take everything this rebel has to emerge triumphant and claim her place as an American icon. As Alice soldiers through the devastation of two world wars and brazens out a cutting feud with her famous Roosevelt cousins, it's no wonder everyone in the capital refers to her as the Other Washington Monument--and Alice intends to outlast them all.

Book Review: The Moroccan Girl by Charles Cumming

The Moroccan Girl
Title: The Moroccan Girl

Author: Charles Cumming

Stars:

Review:
A fantastic modern day spy tale that fits in so well with what is happening in the western world. Conspiracy theorists will have a great time with this offering comparing it to what they hear/see in the news. I enjoyed the story and the  author/amateur untrained spy showed a lot of moxie and raw courage in order to complete his assigned task.

I have rated this book 4 stars.

I received an ARC from Netgalley for my unbiased review. Thank you Frank for your Review
