Motherhood Summer Planning
Anyone who is a parent knows summer is one the hardest times of the year. Add in 110+ degree weather it almost feels impossible keeping the kiddos active.
Ever since our oldest went to 2nd grade we decided to have a summer schedule. That right from waking up to going to bed everything is scheduled out with free time, craft time, reading time, pool days, friends and sleep overs. We found out allowing them the freedom to do what they want and when caused the one staying home a huge headache and the schedule and clock are the bad guy.
During break we use a different schedule the kids have to to the Bored List which works
B: have you Been creative for 30 mins
O: Have you been Outside for 30 mins
R: Have you Read a book for 30 Mins
E: Have you Exercised for 30 mins
D: Have you Done something for someone else for 30 mins (IE help clean a bedroom)
If you have done all of this and shown mom or dad you are allowed 2 hours of Electronic time and 2 plus hours of movie\TV time.
I wish I could say this has worked wonders but it doesn't and it only last 2.5 hours before the kids yell I'm bored. So every times they do I should them the Bored List and tell them to start again. It only takes once for them to realize I can be mean too.
Summer schedule has everything planned out from Breakfast to read time to shower and mommy reading stories. It doesn't always work but it give he kids an idea of what might happen if they don't fight. When the fight the schedule the lose on on fun activities later in the week or walking the dog in the early morning hours.
Here hoping I have planned well because I have plans to make a lots of crafts this summer. The kids are going be to helping preschool kids learn to read for the summer and lots of summing at their grandpas pool.
Thankfully we only have 6 weeks of summer so they don't get bored nearly as fast. At least I hope!
What are your summer plans?
Did I forget my nephew is getting married the same day as my parents 50 wedding anniversary and 5 days before my 15th wedding anniversary.
Do you want a wrinkle cream with sunscreen in it?
