Movie Review - The Help - rent it today!

The Help

I realize I'm a bit behind the times, but we have five kids so going out is not an option we get to take very often.  We rented this movie the other night and I have to say that I was surprised it was almost as good as the book.  Watching a movie after reading the book always worries me and I have skipped several movies because I hate it when Hollywood ruins a great book.  This is not the case with the movie The Help.  I laughed and I got a bit teary eyed in places, but I enjoyed the movie almost as much as I enjoyed the book.  Of course the book has more details and the characters are like friends once you finish, but this movie was quite good and I would suggest it to everyone out there.

I did hate Hilly, people like that really twist my knickers.

  2. I read the book, and it's one of my alltime favorites! But I am dying to see the movie! I wondered how it would compare to the book, so I'm glad it's good.

  3. I enjoyed the movie, I read the book over a year ago and so maybe my memory is not as it should be...but I really liked the movie...they did not ruin the book in my opinion.

  4. I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed this. Like you, I often forgo movie adaptations of books that I love because I'm afraid the movie will ruin the book.
I put myself on the list for this at the library, though I won't get it anytime soon as I think I'm somewhere in the 200's on the list.

Hope you have a wonderful holiday season :)

  5. I really enjoyed this book. I thought they did a pretty good job with the movie too. I watched it with my mom and sisters for a fun girls night after we all finished the book. I made and brought a chocolate pie....they all still ate it.
